Terms of Service

These terms govern your access to Montesque. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

Effective August 26, 2026

1. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 and legally able to agree to these terms. You are responsible for accurate account information, safeguarding credentials, and activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

2. The service

Montesque provides educational civic information, AI-generated explanations, public records, and tools for exploring possible policy impacts. Features may change, improve, or be discontinued. We may impose reasonable usage limits to protect the service.

3. Important information disclaimer

Montesque is not a government agency, campaign, news publisher, or political endorsement service. Content may be incomplete, delayed, or incorrect, and AI can produce errors. Verify consequential information against linked primary sources. Montesque does not provide legal, financial, medical, tax, or voting advice.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant Montesque a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, transmit, and display it only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the service. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit that content.

5. Acceptable use

You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy. Among other things, you may not abuse the service, interfere with its operation, bypass safeguards, violate others' rights, or use Montesque unlawfully.

6. Intellectual property

Montesque and its original software, design, branding, and documentation are protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service for its intended purpose; they do not transfer ownership.

7. Third-party services and sources

Montesque uses and links to third-party services and public sources. Their terms and privacy practices apply to their services. We are not responsible for third-party availability, content, or conduct.

8. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Montesque or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address violations, security risks, legal requirements, nonpayment for a paid service, or material harm to Montesque or others.

9. Disclaimers and liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Montesque is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, uninterrupted availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Montesque will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or loss of data, profits, goodwill, or opportunities.

Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded. Consumer protections that apply in your jurisdiction remain in effect.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these terms and will revise the effective date when changes are published. Continued use after material changes take effect constitutes acceptance where permitted by law. Questions may be submitted through our private contact channel.
